i have this very strong macdennis hc that smth happened between them in hs and i dont even think they hooked up or kissed bc that would’ve made things too real like they can jerk off together as bros but they couldn’t kiss u know. but i do think that dennis got rejected by mac once he realized he was in love with him and made a move. he might’ve tried to kiss mac and mac pulled away and it got a bit awkward mac was like “ummm u weren’t trying to… cus u know i’m not…” and dennis went “nooo dude of course not i just wanted to get the remote” and they never talked about it again and over the course of the next weeks dennis had to listen to mac ramble about how gay ppl would go to hell and he found himself so humiliated bc he fell in love with his best friend and it felt so right that he was actually willing to give it a shot only to get rejected so he decided he was never gonna go through this again but he also didn’t wanna lose what him and mac had. and this makes everything more painful bc mac was completely blind by religion but dennis had nowhere to hide and it would’ve been easier for him to just drift apart from mac but he was his favorite person in the world, he was willing to suffer bc what he had with mac was enough. this explains dennis resenting mac for coming out bc after everything he went through in order to become the person he was performing and make his peace with it, now mac was ready and dennis wasn’t and he just wished this happened 20 years ago
